The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently approved, for the first time, drone use as an application method for three Public Health products from Valent BioSciences LLC.

VectoBac 200G, VectoBac 1200L, and VectoLex CG, which are larvicides used in the control of black flies and mosquitoes, are the first products in Canada to be approved for application via drone.

Using a Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) – currently utilized in many parts of the United States for applying larvicides and monitoring pest populations – has previously not been allowed in Canada by the PMRA.

Advancements in application technology, including the use of RPAS, provide public health professionals with savings in both operational costs and labour management.

“As a company, we have extensive field experience in the United States applying our products via drones,” said Maria Dombrowsky, Valent BioSciences’ Marketing Operations Manager. “Having this registration in Canada will now provide our customers here with greater application flexibility, as well as allow them to more easily access hard-to-treat areas and save them money while maintaining accurate application rates.”

Valent BioSciences is proud to be an industry leader and a partner with its customers as they explore the latest application technologies.
