The Missouri Dairy Hall of Honours recognized outstanding individuals for their contributions to the state’s dairy industry during a special ceremony on January 31, 2025, at the University of Missouri.

Recognizing Leadership in Dairy

Jon Bebermeyer of Kansas City and Marilyn Calvin of Mount Vernon received the prestigious Dairy Leadership Award for their impact on the industry.

Bebermeyer, the Chief Operating Officer for Dairy Farmers of America’s (DFA) Central Area, has spent his career enhancing milk marketing efforts across 21 states. His leadership has been crucial in supporting thousands of dairy farm families, and his involvement in the Missouri Dairy Products Association further reflects his commitment to the industry.

Calvin, co-owner of Thunder Ridge Dairy, transformed a modest start into a thriving 560-acre dairy operation. Her dedication to genetic advancement and over five decades of participation in Dairy Herd Improvement Association (DHIA) milk testing highlight her contributions to improving herd quality and productivity.

Excellence in Dairy Breeding

James L. and Novalee Coats were honoured with the Distinguished Dairy Cattle Breeder Award for their commitment to registered Holstein breeding. Since establishing their farm in Texas County in 1975, they transitioned to a fully registered herd under the Ja-No-Co prefix, producing award-winning Holsteins recognized by Holstein USA’s Progressive Breeders Registry for eight years.

Advancing Dairy Education and Research

Dr. Stacey Hamilton of Greenfield was awarded the Meritorious Service Award for his contributions to dairy education and research. As a state dairy specialist with the University of Missouri Extension, Hamilton played a pivotal role in expanding pasture-based dairies in Missouri and developing key tools such as the Missouri Grazing Wedge and PaddockTrac to assist farmers in forage management.

Honoring a Legacy in Dairy Farming

The late Mike Wilson of Neosho was posthumously awarded the Pioneer Leader Award for his lifelong commitment to dairy farming and mentoring young farmers. As the founder of Mi-Wil Farms, Wilson’s passion for dairy breeding and showing influenced many in the industry. His leadership in FFA dairy judging programs helped shape future generations of dairy farmers.

Preserving Missouri’s Dairy Heritage

Since 1988, the Missouri Dairy Hall of Honors Foundation has celebrated excellence in the dairy industry while preserving the state’s rich dairy history. In collaboration with the University of Missouri’s College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, the foundation continues to highlight achievements in dairy farming, breeding, and education.

The 2024 inductees exemplify the dedication and innovation driving Missouri’s dairy industry forward, ensuring a strong future for generations to come.
