The nonprofit Association of Females in Agriculture Media (A-FAM) is set to officially launch on December 1, aiming to empower women across all areas of agricultural media. Founded by Sabrina Halvorson, Corryn LaRue, and Aria Wilcox, A-FAM will focus on providing networking opportunities, professional development, mentoring, and personal support for women in roles spanning broadcast, print, digital media, podcasting, sales, and industry relations.
The organization seeks to create a safe and inclusive space for women to discuss challenges and opportunities unique to their careers and lives. While membership is open to all, A-FAM prioritizes fostering a supportive environment for women in the industry.
A-FAM has already planned monthly virtual sessions through April 2025, covering topics such as diversity in agriculture, building audience trust, leveraging new media tools, and personal branding. Membership is currently free, and interested individuals can join or learn more at www.a-fam-members.org.
The founding members bring diverse experiences and achievements:
- Sabrina Halvorson, a 34-year veteran of ag media, is the 2024 Farm Broadcaster of the Year and serves as National Correspondent for AgNet Media.
- Corryn LaRue is a farm broadcaster with the American Ag Network and the 2023 NAFB Horizon Award recipient.
- Aria Wilcox manages sales and events for a California-based ag magazine, leads marketing for her family’s publishing business, and co-owns an exotic pet business while pursuing her degree in communications.
A-FAM is positioned to advance the professional growth of women in ag media while promoting innovation and inclusivity in the field.
