The Dairy Processors Association of Canada welcomes two new members: Bel Group and Fairlife – Coca-Cola.
Founded in 1865, the Bel Group is a family-owned group that has expanded internationally and is known to consumers in more than 120 countries. Since 1957, the company has been supplying Canadians with its emblematic cheese brands, including The Laughing Cow®, Boursin®, Mini Babybel® and Kiri®. Today, the Bel Group is also a major player in healthy portioned snacks, with a commitment to responsible eating for all. In 2018, Groupe Bel opened its first Canadian plant in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, investing $87 million and helping the community with the creation of 170 new jobs.
Fairlife, which is part of the Coca-Cola family of brands, is a nutrient-rich and lactose-free ultrafiltered milk made with 100% Canadian milk, containing 50% more protein and 50% less sugar than traditional milk. The company opened a new, $85 million facility fully supplied by Canadian dairy farmers this Fall in Peterborough, Ontario. The facility has created over 30 full-time local jobs and is expected to generate 10-20 more new roles as sales capacity increases over the next year.
DPAC welcomes the additional perspectives that these new members will be able to provide to its work; together DPAC members will help to shape the future of the Canadian dairy processing industry.
