Mathieu Lipari, CPA, CA, Senior Manager, Agricultural Risk Management Resource

Excellent production levels are not enough to keep a farm going. The key to success is not only how well you produce, but also how well you manage your farm business. Risk management is an under-valued yet crucial part of farm business management.

Mathieu Lipari is MNP’s new risk assessment leader specializing in agriculture. His extensive experience includes helping producers in developing countries and working as a project manager for Farm Management Canada for 13 years.

Mathieu has led projects to develop risk management resources tailored for Canadian producers. These include the Comprehensive Guide to Managing Risk in Agriculture, risk management toolkits, and AgriShield™, an online comprehensive risk management platform. It guides producers through a complete, whole-farm risk assessment and planning process and provides tools and resources to mitigate key risks.

Over the years, Mathieu has taught comprehensive risk management for agriculture, providing training to hundreds of producers and farm advisors across Canada, given guest lectures in Canadian universities and colleges, and published various articles and papers. He’s also spoken about risk management at various national and international events like the International Farm Management Association (IFMA) Congress.

While working at Farm Management Canada, Mathieu completed a degree in accounting. He also holds a technical degree in agriculture and international development from the University of Guelph and a bachelor of business administration from L’Université du Québec à Montréal.

“I believe that my fairly unique background and expertise will not only help MNP remain one of the top accounting firms for the Canadian agricultural industry but also help to expand the types of services that MNP can offer to help producers manage risk in a comprehensive, holistic way,” says Mathieu.
